A Report of compression of the duodenum

Abstract
Compression of the third or fourth part of the duodenum by the superior mesenteric artery or one of its branches is the anatomic basis. Vascular compression of the duodenum was first described in 1861 by Rokitansky.
Various names have been applied: Wilkie¢¥s disease, superior mesenteric artery syndrome, and anteriomesenteric ileus. We believe it to be a real disease entity with an anatomic basis best described by the name vascular compression of the duodenum.
Recently we experienced one case of compression of the duodenum in 16 years old female who was admitted due to abdominal distension, indigestion, nausea, vomiting and constipation.
